Baby Abigail's Ultrasounds

The very first looks above of the baby around week 6 to see how far along I was. The baby is so tiny tiny it had to be magnified alot to be seen like this!

Our second set of ultrasounds at week 9, as you can see the baby is still small but bigger than before.

I got to get the ultrasounds above on 5/4/05 because on that day at the doctor's they couldn't pick up the heartbeat just by listening to it through a doupler on my stomach so they did an ultrasound to take the heartbeat measurement and to make sure everything was ok which it was. The ultrasound on the right shows the measuring of the heartbeats which was in the 140-150 range, normal.

These three ultrasounds above are the ultrsounds we have been waiting for forever! The one to let us know if the baby is a boy or a girl. We got a 90% confirmation that the baby is a girl. This ultrasound was around week 20, it also let us know that I have marginal placenta previa, a condition where the placenta is blocking or resting on the cervix blocking the opening to the uterus. It means future complications unless it corrects itself which is most cases it does according to the doctors. They did say however I don't have it bad, its not really blocking the opening just lying along the side of the opening. So I will get one more ultrasound after this one to see if it is fixed or not around week 28 or so. P.S. see in the first 6/8/05 pic the black circle in the baby? That is her stomach, cool huh. In the second pic you can see her waving at us. In the third pic see her little foot up in the air on the right. We got a video tape on this day too which is cute, it shows her chewing and moving and everything.

The above is the last ultrasounds we should be getting done. They were taken at 27 weeks and 3 days along. This ultrasound session was really important and a source of great news because it let us know that I have no placenta previa at all! The cervix and placenta are super far away from each other and the baby has moved up like she is supposed to. Also this appointment let us know one more time that yes, infact the baby is a girl! See in the first pic on the left the striped looking thing sticking up on the left? That is the umbilical cord, and she has her arm up over her face, just like in the pic on the right she has her hand over part of her face. Its funny her sister Caitlin always was touching her face and head in her ultrasounds too.
